About Me

Anne grew up in an academic family, her mother is professor of Television and New Media, and so Anne was immersed in critical reflection on storytelling from the time she was preverbal. Eventually her mother’s editing of Anne’s papers for school turned into her mother asking her to edit her articles and books, and thus a longstanding career in freelance editing was born.

Anne followed her love of story to USC, where she studied Theatre, learning to approach dramatic writing from a text studies point of view and from within a character, studying acting. In her final semester, she wrote her first feature length screenplay, which was a finalist for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab later that year.

Eventually, Anne followed her love of screenwriting to the American Film Institute, where she received an MFA, studying under Academy Award Nominee Tom Rickman (Coal Miner’s Daughter).

Anne continues to write feature screenplays, television pilots, and personal essays, as she simultaneously teaches creative writing to young writers across genres, and has edited extensively in the academic world.

Anne has been the recipient of profoundly transformative coaching and mentorship as a writer, and in her role as a creative writing instructor and coach, has had the chance to offer the same combination of an editor’s eye and a safe, supportive container to help other writers flourish.
